“The People Also Left Their Labors to Hear the Word of God”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
Edification is a form of spiritual education that is perfected as both speaker and hearer approach the class or sermon with joint preparation. When the speaker seeks the influence of the Spirit and delivers his or her message by that power, and at the same time the listener seeks the Spirit and receives the message by that same sacred influence, both are edified and rejoice together (see D&C 50:13-22).
