“It Would Prove Their Entire Destruction”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
A civilization that wastes its strength in the pursuit of either wealth or glory will not stand. A nation that fosters or encourages selfishness, that allows greed and lust to go unchecked, will sink under its own weight. Babylon will fall because its citizenry will come in time to shun and hate and destroy all that oppose them. Zion will arise and shine forth as an ensign to the nations because its municipals seek the interest of their neighbors and do all things with an eye single to the glory of God (D&C 82:19). The only true antidote to priestcraft is charity (see 2 Nephi 26:30-31).
