“Nehor”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Alma began by commenting on Mosiah’s valiant leadership—he “warred a good warfare”—which parallels the apostle Paul’s comment before his death, “I have fought a good fight” (2 Timothy 4:7). It also sets a tone for the verses that follow. Alma then moved to a description of a man whose name is not immediately disclosed but who made trouble for the Church by teaching a false but appealing doctrine. His name was Nehor (v. 15).
