“The Voice of the People Came”

Brant Gardner

Mosiah’s consultation with the voice of the people may not fit cleanly into typical concepts of monarchy, but its importance is that the voice of the people will underpin Mosiah’s persuasion about switching to judges (vv. 25–29). The “voice of the people” identified Aaron as the desired next king, highlighting that, although this mechanism would become more important under the system of judges, it already existed (Mosiah 29:26).
