“The Time the Lord Confounded the Language”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

The record that Mosiah the seer translated covered the Jaredites’ history from the time of their destruction, back through thousands of years to their origin at the time of the confounding of languages at the tower of Babel, and on back to the creation of Adam (compare Mosiah 8:5–18). A condensed version of this history was later included by Moroni and is called the book of Ether.
