“Alma Was Again Troubled”

Brant Gardner

Alma is in an unprecedented situation here—the first time in Book of Mormon history when there is a division between the government and the official religion. Mosiah has reinforced that division by requiring Alma to solve the problem. Baffled, Alma seeks inspiration and receives an answer (vv. 15–32).
