“Alma Given Authority over the Church”

Monte S. Nyman

The small congregation in the wilderness had not been exposed to such experiencing many internal problems. As Alma turns to King Mosiah for help, he learns another great lesson: there is a separation between church and state. Alma had been delegated the authority to administer the affairs of the church (v. 8). Transgressions and sins against the commandments of God, as given to the church, were to be handled by the church.
