It is interesting that the self-confidence of the king suddenly collapsed. The priests immediately surrounded the king to restore his passionate hatred of Abinadi. Unless he remained firm the priests themselves might all be in jeopardy. So they emphasized how Abinadi had actually testified against the king and said the death of Abinadi would be a witness against the king. That did it. Finally the king had aroused his royal wrath sufficiently to act.
