“As a Sheep Before the Shearer”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

Abinadi continues to speak in parallels. The phrase “the flesh becoming subject even unto death” is intended to be read in parallel with the phrase which follows, “the will of the Son being swallowed up in the will of the Father.” Paul proclaimed to the Philippian Saints that Jesus, “being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:6-8; italics added).
