“But I Finish My Message”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Abinadi saw that the priests could not then harm him, for the protecting might of the Lord was over him. In reading the account of Nephi and Lehi, to which we have referred, (Hel. 5) verse twenty-five is a complete comment on this part of the story of Abinadi.

To Abinadi, it mattered not as to the things of the world, or, upon death, where he would go, just as long as he delivered his divine message, and was saved in the Kingdom of God. But he warned them, that, whatever they did to him, after he had finished the work the Lord had given him to do, it would be but a type, a fore-shadowing "of things which are to come."

In all events, Abinadi said, "I finish my message."
