The Lord’s delivering Abinadi from the angry mob will be commented on later. King Noah rejected Abinadi’s words and also the Lord. His response (v. 27) was the same as Cain’s when his mother (Eve) asked that he not reject the Lord’s words: “Who is the Lord that I should know him” (Moses 5:16). King Noah was successful in stirring up the people to anger and seeking the life of Abinadi (Mosiah 11:28–29).
