The Nephites were violently outraged by the preaching of Abinadi and tried to kill him, but somehow he escaped. Nevertheless, Abinadi had created such an uproar among the people with his message that there was a Jesus Christ coming very shortly. Therefore king Noah sent out a royal edict that Abinadi should be immediately captured and brought to the king who boasted that he would personally slay him.
