“Elegant and Spacious Buildings”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

An earmark of false religion is its attempt to hide its emptiness in such things as pomp and ceremony, grandeur and elegance. The purpose of great and spacious buildings, ornate in decor, is to create a sense of reverence and awe that otherwise would be lacking. Gold and silver, silks and scarlets, magnificent treasures of art and craftsmanship, buildings of enormous size and expense-such are the trappings of the kingdoms of this world and the cloak of the god of that which is worldly.
