“Mosiah Reigns in His Fathers Stead”

Monte S. Nyman

How old King Benjamin was when he delivered his last speech as king is not stated. He was either old or in poor health since his frame trembled “exceedingly while attempting to speak to [his people]” (2:30). Nevertheless, he spoke under the influence of the Spirit because they all fell to the earth after hearing him, and all except little children entered into the covenant and took upon them the name of Christ (v. 2). After he had strengthened his kingdom, he turned it over to his son Mosiah, as he had gathered them to do (v. 3; 1:10; 2:30). He lived three more years and passed to his eternal reward (v. 5).
