He Gave Mosiah Charge of All the Affairs of the Kingdom.

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

The abdication of King Benjamin was made less unpleasant, and the assumption of the kingly prerogatives by Mosiah made more impressive by the outgoing ruler’s handing over to his son and successor, the Plates of Brass, the Plates of Nephi, the Sword of Laban, and the Liahona. Benjamin, here, relates to Mosiah the story of the Liahona; how it worked only by the faith of those of their fathers who gave heed to Him, and were diligent in serving the Lord. (For a discussion of the Liahona, See COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF MORMON, Vol.. I, pp. 187, 188, 274.)
