“Behold I Am Amaleki, the Son of Abinadom”

Alan C. Miner

Brant Gardner notes that Abinadom does not specifically mention passing the plates to his son (see Omni 1:10-11), and yet his son, who introduces himself as Amaleki, does have them (see Omni 1:12). Perhaps this is not necessarily an oversight, but rather a recognition of the fact that Amaleki was very young at the time, and could not receive them directly from his father. I will presume that Amaleki was very young, and traveled with his mother (but not his father) on the trip to Zarahemla.
