“Two Hundred and Seventy and Six Years Had Passed Away”

W. Cleon Skousen

He tells us that 276 years have now passed away since Lehi left Jerusalem and this brings us down to 323 B.C. This means that Omni did not write anything on these plates until 38 years after he had received them from his father. During this time there were some seasons of peace but also many seasons of serious war and bloodshed. At this point Omni apparently stopped writing for six years. Then he tells us 282 years have passed away which brings us to 317 B.C. Omni tells us nothing new concerning the Nephites but says he is turning over the plates to his son, Amaron.
