“I Will Visit Thy Brethren According to Their Diligence in Keeping My Commandments”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise (D&C 82:10). “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you,” the Lord promised (D&C 88:63). “If you keep not my commandments, the love of the Father shall not continue with you, therefore you shall walk in darkness” (D&C 95:12). There is no power in disobedience and unrighteousness; they do not influence the dispensing of heaven’s powers or its blessings. “There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated-and when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated” (D&C 130:20-21).
