In verse 8 the Lord had told Enos to go forth because his faith had made him whole, but he did not go forth. Instead he began hungering for the welfare of his brethren. He prayed for the Nephites and poured out his soul on their behalf until the Lord said he would bless the Nephites providing they kept the commandments.
