“And I Said: Lord, How is It Done?”

Denver C. Snuffer, Jr.

This is an inspired inquiry. This is exactly what we want to know. We would all like to have eternal life. So when Enos is provoked to ask, we are able to come to a higher understanding of how these things work. The inspired inquiry is part of a pattern described in the Doctrine & Covenants: “But no man is possessor of all things except he be purified and cleansed from all sin. And if ye are purified and cleansed from all sin, ye shall ask whatsoever you will in the name of Jesus and it shall be done. But know this, it shall be given you what you shall ask;” (D&C 50: 28-30, emphasis added). You can ask for and receive anything, when the Lord makes you the offer Enos received. However, you should be inspired or instructed what to ask. Enos’ inquiry is inspired and focused upon the very issue which we need to have answered for our own eternal welfare.
