“Grafted into Their Mother Tree”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

These verses are a vivid description of the gathering of Israel in the last days, the drawing together to Zion of the scattered remnants or branches of the chosen people. This dispensation has witnessed the pitching of the tent of Zion, the driving of stakes into the ground to stabilize that tent, and the ever-increasing number of stakes and the strength established thereby.

These things are accomplished as missionaries proclaim the message of the Restoration to all the world and as faithful families locate and relocate, as modern Israel gathers to her stakes.“For Zion must increase in beauty, and in holiness; her borders must be enlarged; her stakes must be strengthened; yea, verily I say unto you, Zion must arise and put on her beautiful garments” (D&C 82:14; cf. D&C 133:9; Isaiah 33:20; Isaiah 54:2).
