Jacobs Teachings on Polygamy

Daniel H. Ludlow

Jacob indicates that if the Lord commands people to practice polygamy in order to "raise up seed" unto himself, then the people should practice polygamy. (Jacob 2:30.) However, if the Lord does not command the people to practice polygamy, then a man should not have more than one wife. (Verse 27.) Jacob makes it clear that the Nephites were not to practice polygamy. (Jacob 2:25-27.)
