“I Jacob Take It Upon Me to Fulfil the Commandment of My Brother Nephi”

Brant Gardner

Narrative: This is the end of Jacob’s introduction. He makes a transition from his and Nephi’s desires into his resolve and oath. In so doing, he links himself to Nephi’s intentions and takes an oath that he will fulfill them. Jacob does not see himself as creating a new work but as literally extending Nephi’s work and purposes.
