The Lord has some challenging questions for the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. What more could the Lord have done to cultivate and encourage this vineyard so it would bring forth sweet grapes? Yet it produced nothing but bitter, wild grapes. The Lord has decided to tear out the protective hedge, and break down the protective wall. He lay it waste and not make any effort to prune or cultivate it or dig out the briers. He will not even allow the rain to water it.
