“My Soul Delighteth in Proving Unto My People the Truth of the Coming of Christ”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Nephi further described what delighted him: “My soul delighteth in proving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ.” The law of Moses and the truths given to Abraham, Enoch, and Adam all point to Christ. All things are types of Christ; all things created bear witness of the Creator.

Nephi’s logic is impeccable: if there is no Christ, there is no God; if there is no God, there is no Creator and therefore there is no creation, which means we don’t exist either. But there is ample evidence that there is a God, and he is Christ, and he is coming “in the fulness of his own time,” in what we call the meridian or the high point of time (see also commentary at 2 Nephi 2:26).
