“The Manner of the Construction Was Like Unto the Temple of Solomon”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

From the time that Moses was given the law that bears his name to that of the rending of the veil in the Jerusalem temple, the pattern of temples was such as to accommodate the Mosaic ritual. That law having found fulfillment in Christ’s atonement, the temples of our dispensation are designed to accommodate the new order of vicarious ordinances performed in them.

The temple to which Christ made his appearance as recorded in 3 Nephi would, like the temple in our present text, have been fashioned after the temple of Solomon.
