“I Am Encompassed About”

Brant Gardner

Nephi continues his lament, confessing that he is constantly subject to temptation—not an occasional or rare temptation but feeling “encompassed about” by opportunities to sin. While Nephi freely confesses his awareness of temptation, his confession does not include succumbing to it. His spiritual righteousness was still so high that he received tremendous spiritual experiences, not all of which were in his past.
