After Lehi offers up some last words of advice to his children and entreats them to follow the Lord, he dies. The rest of this chapter shows a very raw, unguarded Nephi praying to God about his sorrow and the uncertain future. This section is generally referred to as the “Psalm of Nephi” because it has many literary and thematic features that are consistent with the pattern of Hebrew psalms.
