As is well known, Nephi was the author of two volumes of plates—the larger and the smaller. In the first of these he preserved the history of the kings and the wars and contentions of his people. (1 Ne. 19:1-7; Jac. 1:1-4; Words of Morm. 3-8) It was a brief ecclesiastical history.
