“I Will Preserve Thy Seed Forever”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Ancient Joseph prophesied in further detail about Moses, his power, his weakness in speaking, his designated spokesman (his brother, Aaron), and his assigned task of receiving, recording, and preserving the Lord’s words (the Torah, or the Law: what has come down to us as Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy).

Ancient Joseph also prophesied about the latter-day “Moses” (Joseph Smith), a spokesman who would be raised up to assist him (Oliver Cowdery, Sidney Rigdon, and others), and his assigned task of receiving, recording, and publishing the Lord’s words given to the original Joseph’s descendants in the Western Hemisphere (what has come down to us as the Book of Mormon), words that would “cry from the dust” the message of repentance to Joseph’s seed. The words, given in their weakness, would be made strong in faith.
