Concluding Thoughts

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Nephi, like his father Lehi before him, is privileged to view from a spiritual perspective the unfolding of the world’s history from his day until the end of time. What these two prophets see and communicate to us is a guide for each of us. Many of the things Nephi’s vision have already occurred, some in our day. Nephi clearly understood that there would be a sore battle raging between the church of the devil and the Church of the Lamb for the souls of men. We, as members of the Church, have various responsibilities in this battle: to stand for truth and righteousness as witnesses (see Mosiah 18:9); to warn our neighbor (see D&C 88:81); to build up the kingdom of God (see JST Matt 6:38); to be a light to the world and saviors to mankind (see D&C 103:9–10; Obadiah 1:21).

We have a prophet today who is led by the Lord Jesus Christ. We are well counseled to give heed to his words, for they are as if the Lord Himself gave them (see D&C 1:38; 3 Nephi 28:34–35).
