“All Manner of Iniquity”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

There can be and is only one true and living church upon the face of the whole earth (see D&C 1:30). Nephi, apparently using the words of Zenos (cf. Malachi 4:1-2), characterized those churches which are not the Lord’s church as including the desire to gain wealth, power, worldly prestige, “the lusts of the flesh,” and “to do all manner of iniquity.” What a shame it is that such things are done in the name of the Lord! Such are among the corruptible things that will be destroyed before the earth can receive again its paradisiacal glory and enjoy its millennial splendor. (See also 2 Nephi 26:23-31 for a discussion of the evils of priestcraft.)
