“Unto All the House of Israel”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

In these verses Nephi elaborated on Isaiah’s promise that the Gentiles would be nursing fathers and mothers to gathering Israel in the last days. He noted that the promise had specific application to Lehi’s descendants (numbered among the American Indians) and in the more general sense to all the house of Israel. Nephi saw the prophecy as having both a temporal and a spiritual fulfillment. The temporal fulfillment would center in aid and help extended by a mighty gentile nation—obviously the United States of America. The spiritual fulfillment would center in the restoration of the gospel and all the blessings that flow from it to those who embrace it.
