“I Have Graven Thee Upon the Palms of My Hands”

W. Cleon Skousen

The Lord says that he will never forget his people because they are graven or inscribed upon the palms of his hands.

17. Thy children shall make haste against thy destroyers; and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

There is a mistake in this verse and it is corrected in the Book of Mormon version, which says: "Thy children shall make haste against thy destroyers; [against thy destroyers -- did you notice that?] and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee." The Lord wants the Israelites of the latter days to know that in spite of the persecution, they will prevail. He says that their children or their youth should hasten forth to stand against the destroyers of Zion because those who spread waste and destruction across the land will be forced to retreat and leave God's people alone.
