Since both sets of plates are called the plates of Nephi, we will refer to the first plates as the large plates of Nephi and the second set which we are now reading as the small plates of Nephi. We observe that the large plates include many secular or historical details, whereas the small plates are devoted primarily to God's revelation and the things of the ministry.
