I can almost imagine the brothers saying to Nephi, "We'll take your word for it." But Nephi insisted that he touch them. And of course when he touched Laman, the zap was very visible. I can imagine Lemuel saying, "I understand. You don't have to touch me." But no, he got zapped. And Sam got to have a testimony also. The interesting part about it is that they now went forward very anxiously and built the ship.
