Verse 35 is the moral summation of the argument begun in 32–34. In a conflict between two peoples, the people whom Yahweh favors will prevail. Nephi draws his argument from history, even though, from a modern perspective, the issue seems much more complex. In fact, Nephite history will also prove to be more ambiguous than simple. However, Nephi was using history as a spiritual model, one he knew that his brothers accepted.
