“My Brethren Murmur and Complain Against Us”

Brant Gardner

Laman and Lemuel’s self-justification continues by denying the most essential information in Lehi’s dream. To support their own view of reality, they must deny Nephi, their father, and the possibility that either is inspired. From a cultural standpoint (certainly not a spiritual one), Laman and Lemuel would be unable to deny a command from Yahweh. They must therefore deny that the command came from Yahweh by denying the messengers.
