“The Daughters of Ishmael Did Mourn Exceedingly”

When verse 35 records that “the daughters of Ishmael did mourn exceedingly,” we have an authentic picture of mourning practices from the Old Testament times. The women would be the most prominent in the mourning procession, and the very purpose of their mourning would be to create a public display of mourning “exceedingly.”
