By this time Lehi's company had gone a considerable distance south down along the Red Sea. But at one stop a tragedy occurred. Nephi broke his steel bow. We learn later that the wooden bows of his brothers had lost their springs so they were depending upon Nephi to keep them from starving. Very shortly the entire company began to suffer.
