“The River”

Brant Gardner

Geography: Most “rivers” in the arid Arabian Peninsula are seasonal. This river appears to have been flowing continually from when they arrived to the time they left. Since there is no mention of building a bridge, we may assume that fording the river was no great task. Probably, therefore, the water was comparatively shallow and not overly swift.
