“No Unclean Thing Can Dwell with God”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
This law was declared by legal administrators from the earliest ages of time. It stands in opposition to the heretical doctrine of salvation by grace alone. Adam was instructed that “all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence; for, in the language of Adam, Man of Holiness is his name” (Moses 6:57; see also 3 Nephi 27:19-20).

“According to the Flesh”

These promises are not to be understood as being figurative or metaphorical. They are to find a literal fulfillment in the lives of Lehi’s descendants.
