“Which Power He Received by Faith on the Son of God”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The ability to enjoy the powers of the Spirit are inextricably tied to one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. In Lehi’s case, he believed the visions and dreams concerning the coming of the Messiah and sought to harmonize his life with those principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ which make one a fit receptacle for the Holy Ghost. Nephi soon stated that the Holy Ghost is “the gift of God unto all those who diligently seek” the Lord. Joseph Smith taught that faith is a principle of power“ (Lectures on Faith 1:15-17).”
