Lehi speaks of a scattering and a gathering that includes the entire house of Israel but does not specify the ten tribes. The ten tribes do not explicitly appear in the text until 1 Nephi 22:4.

Apologetics: The Book of Mormon is not part of popular American religious literature that links the lost ten tribes and the American Indians. In the Book of Mormon, the lost tribes are lost somewhere else. The Lehites do not consider themselves part of the lost tribes.
