“A Messiah”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
The word Messiah is from the Hebrew, meaning “anointed one.” Jesus Christ was the One called and chosen, foreordained and anointed from the foundation of the world to bring salvation to the penitent.

“And I Nephi, Did Build a Temple”

The Lord’s people have always been a temple-building people. Indeed, the temple is the focal point of true religion, the sacred ground ordained as the meetingplace between God and man, the house of revelation, and the place of eternal covenants.

It is commonly held by the Jews that there can be but one temple- the temple in Jerusalem. Scriptural writ testifies otherwise. From the days of the brother of Jared the Lord’s people have known that in the last days two great temples would reach their spires to the heavens- one in Jerusalem, the other in the New Jerusalem of the Americas (see Ether 13:3-12; D&C 133:13).
