“He Had Preached and Also Prophesied Unto Them of Many Things,”

Brant Gardner

Redaction: This summary of Lehi’s conclusion shows that, even though Nephi thought it was important as a springboard to his personal epiphany, Lehi saw it as something of a last chance for Laman and Lemuel. His concern triggered not only his vision, but also a sermon (v. 37) and a further prophecy (v. 38), neither of which is recorded. Nephi tells us as much about his own purposes by what he leaves out here as he does by what he has included.

Text: There is no chapter break at this point in the 1830 edition.
