The miracle here was the willingness of Ishmael and his entire family to join with the family of Lehi and go to some unknown promised land. However, there were some mitigating circumstances. We learned that Ishmael's two older sons were already married to Lehi's two oldest daughters so these two families had enjoyed a close relationship for several years. It was from these two families that millions of their descendants would populate the promised land of America.
