“I Know of a Surety”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Preserved for us in the Book of Mormon are the actual words of Sariah as she bears her testimony of their divine mission and the blessings of the Lord to her sons. Her action is a reminder of the principle of active gratitude. According to this principle, we step forward, when we discern the merciful hand of the Lord at work in our lives, and proclaim our witness of the same. In this way, others might be edified in the knowledge that we are firm in our covenant resolve. Active gratitude moves us beyond simply cultivating an inner conviction of the Lord’s tender mercies; it empowers us to speak and act openly in praising the Lord for His blessings.
