“When Zoram Had Made an Oath”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

As we draw to the close of this episode, we are again faced with the power of the ancient oath. Nephi swore unto Zoram with an oath that no harm would come to him if he cooperated and accompanied them on their journey to the promised land; this former servant would be a free man. Zoram took courage upon hearing these words. Zoram then swore with an oath that he would accompany them and that he could be trusted. The reaction: “And it came to pass that when Zoram had made an oath with us, our fears did cease concerning him.”
