“The Lord Is Able to Deliver Us”

Brant Gardner

Laman and Lemuel (probably all four brothers) hesitate to face Laban and his fifty (1 Ne. 3:31). As Nephi marshals his arguments, he articulates their fear and exaggerates it. With the strength of the Lord, what does Laban’s fifty matter? What would even tens of thousands matter? This last phrase is almost certainly for dramatic effect, not a report of Laban’s military strength.
